    Default Tube fenders for XJ's

I have seen several XJ's with decent Tube applications but never seen an afetermarket place that sells XJ Tube fenders front and rear. For the Fabbers on here what would it take to get some front and rear tube fenders made for an XJ? I do not have one yet but once I find one the first things I will be doing to it is armor (out of experiance and my wheeling style)

I know this is illaborate but this is what I am thinking about

Looks really good and the guy that built those has a great idea. However, flat fenders on a CJ, YJ or TJ are a replacement outer skin. What I mean is that when you put flat fenders on one of the above Jeeps, you actually cut the OEM outer skin off and replace it with a much beefier version. Example, we build our flat fenders out of 1 3/4" DOM tubing that has 1/4" thick wall and the plate is 1/8" thick. Very bashable and very durable. Put it this way; I weigh 220 pounds and my co-worker also weighs 220 pounds. We can BOTH climb on my flat fenders and jump up and down on them. Try that with the ones that you linked to.

The flaw/potential problem with the fenders that you linked is that they bolt to the existing fenders like a skin. While it's not bad, it's still relying on the thin OEM sheetmetal when you scrub against something. (tree, rocks, etc..) Not saying the guy has a bad idea, just in my opinion, not the best way to do it.

Believe me, we have already been talking about making a flat fender for XJs. As we make progress, I'll let everyone know.

Tom does some nice work but truth be told Slickrock Gear came up with the bolt-on flat fender look. I saw a set on another XJ here and really liked the look but the weight gain was considerable. I opted to build mine into the heep instead of building bolt on's. Either way, it's a nice addition to the XJ and makes it stand out a bit from the rest of the station wagons.
