    Default Cobra 29LTD w/bluetooth

Hey guys and girls, I recently installed a Cobra CB into my XJ. It's thier new one with bluetooth built in.

The CB works great, and for only $30 more than a standard 29LTD, the blue tooth feature is nice.

The phone part (bluetooth) works through the CB, you talk into the mike, (you don't need to press the mike button) which has a seperate pick up for the phone, and you hear out of the CB or external speaker (which is what I have)

I can hear great, and people can hear me, although they say I sound like I'm in a tin can They can understand me fine.

If they can't hear me well, I pick up the mike and hold it like I was talking on the CB. (it's usually hanging from the rearview mirror)

It supports voice activated calling, as long as your cellphone does.

To recieve/end a call, there is a blue button on the front of the mike, just push it.

I also used a 'no ground' antenna from Radio Shack, $45.

It's designed for wooden/fiberglass boats of fiberglass campers/truck sleepers, so it doesn't need a ground plane to work.

I have a 1.1 SWR with it, and no problems sending/recieving.

The radio cost $190, spendy but worth it, as it's a quality radio.

It's also a big one, so mounting options are limited. I mounted mine on the shifter console.

Forgot to mention, you can get an extension mike, that clips to your shirt or the visor. There is a jack in the back of the CB to connect it. I think they are $20.

Got the same comment on NAXJA! it's my cuspidor/spitoon/Copenhagen receptacle

It's ok, as long as I don't mix it up with my coffee cup!

First: TMI while I was eating breakfast!
Second: When was the last time you got the cups confused?!

PS I like the "hook" for the mike....gives me an idea for my 75.....

Getting my morning coffee at the mud truck. Don't ever talk to me until I've had my morning coffee. Seriously, don't. I'm venomous. @BronxZooCobra.

I do like the blue tooth idea. I've only got one good hand to work with, it makes it hard to drive and talk at the same time. They'd need to come up with a smaller unit first though.

Got both at Radio Schack, but any good truckstop should have the radio.

I haven't mixed up the cups for long time I make sure the coffee cup is ceramic.

There are some nice hands free kits out there, that are 'stand alone' (not part of a CB) but be careful. I bought one at Wally World for $60. It clipped on the visor, and had caller ID which was nice, but it didn't work well. No one could hear me.

I kept returning it (3 times), thinking I had a bad one, but they all did the same thing.

Dude, styrafoam cups are pretty inexpensive... You may wnat to consider replacing it every so often... That pink and green mold in there kinda reminds me of something from Doom that I wouldn't want to mess with...
