    Default Front diff lunchbox

Looking to install a lunchbox locker. I havent seen any recent posts on here or JF about reviews.

I am looking at either a Spartan or a Powertrax no slip.

Both have good reviews, but the biggest thing I am looking at is the locking/unlocking noise. We like to take the jeep on back roads, doors off nice and slow. My concern is how loud/annoying is the noise. My wife gets migranes pretty easy, so it might be a concern.

If a wrenching party is avail, I would do a selectable.

    any advice/comments??

Wow, there is life in here...

I have used TorqMaster in the past. Very good product that does not have loud popping noise. Plus they are made here in the US. But, most lunch box lockers will pop on the road when the tires get in a bind or the springs get bad. Off-road is not bad as the ground is usually soft enough for the tire to break traction and prevent the popping.

Cora Jokinen who owns the company is awesome, she assisted me in buying a few sets of lockers for training vehicles at a great deal. She is supportive of the military.

If you don't want binding and need a great locker the EATON Detroit Truetrac is an awesome locker but does require taking apart the differential. It may be a little much for what you are looking for.

I ran an Aussie locker everyday for about 5 years. I had no problems. They have a very noticeable click when turning.

I've ran Aussies in a few of my Jeeps. As Colo said, some clicking on turns, but not what I consider aggravating.

Selectable is nice, if you can swing it.

I believe that lunch boxes are going to pop and click, just nature of design, but after looking at reviews on different sites, it seams that Spartan may not make as much noise. Aussie is good, so just not sure. As we all try and do, not waste on something that will work, but come to find out if waited abit longer and scrapped up the funds, the other option was much better.
Not sure when I would be able to get a selectable, but that would be the best option.
