Question Irk- Check Engine Light **update, got the code**

I'm gonna try the gas cap trick. It has been rainy out so maybe that's the reason.

But I was driving around last night and the check engine light came on. I'm kinda irked since I bought this Jeep about 3 weeks ago.

    It's 2003 with 58,000K on it.

    Any other ideas?

Ttake it by Autozone, or Advance Auto, or something similar, and they will check what is triggering the light, for free.

Turn the key to the on position, then off, then on without starting the engine three times in a row and post the code you get that pops up on where the mileage usually shows. It should be something like P0339 or some other number with a letter before it. This will help keep you from driving it more to get it to a place to check the code and can be done right where it is.

It could be something really simple and the code you get will be the same thing you can get at an auto parts store.

I was told that those places will not do that anymore. Unless it is just the left coast, California.
