    Default dumb shock question

When installing shocks, should the body of the shock be at the bottom or at the top? Or do the rears have the body mounted at the top and the fronts are mounted at the bottom? I've seen a bunch of pictures, and I've seen them mounted both ways.
I should probably add that the shocks in questions are Rancho 9000xl's.

Body usually goes down. I had to flip mine in the rear because the axle tube hit them, but they started leaking recently.

Depends on the shock. Bilstiens I believe need to be body up.

On my Rancho's I put the body down, stem up. They work fine.

One call to the company would let you know for sure.

Thanks everyone... I contacted Rancho and their shocks are recommended to be mounted with the body down.
