    Default troubleshooting a transfer case

    Here's the deal;

    I have a 95 ZJ with the 5.2l in it. threw in a reman NP 242 T case with the select trac w/ all time and part time 4wd in it. When I shift to 4hi or all time 4wd, I have a scraping and groaning coming from the new T case that will not go away. Made sure to pt syn. tranny fluid in it, per direction of the website.
    Drivelines aren't rubbing.

    Mods are:
    3.5" rubicon express lift
    31" MT's

    Anyone have any ideas why a remanufactured T case would groan and scrape? There was pretty much only 1 right way to bolt the T case to the tranny. The drivelines have been removed and replaced(not to eliminate the noise), and I have checked the gear pattern after the front ARB install. Nothing shows any indication of damage. Fluid is clean and fresh. No burning.

    If you are getting the noise in 4wd or part-time, it sounds like an output bearing for the front driveshaft. When in 2wd, you wouldn't be putting as much stress on the front output enough though you have unitized bearings. Try taking your front driveshaft out and put it in 4wd and pzrt-time. See if the noise still happens.

    Default is your jeep lifted ?

    if your jeep is lifted you could have a driveline angle problem with no sye.
    if it is your trans case i have one for 150.00 plus shipping if you want it? it came from a 96 zj with fulltime 4wd.
