If all you're looking for an engine and tranny, I have a 5.7L V8 Hemi and tranny in Jacksonville, Florida...yours for only $2500.
Hey all, anyone have some feedback for me regarding this one? Good deal or steer clear? My plan is to rob the engine and trans out of it (if it proves to be in good shape) and drop it in my CJ7 as I believe '88 was the first year they started coming with Fuel injection, and then part out the rest of the YJ.
Thanks!

1988 Jeep Wrangler 6-Cylinder 5 speed - $1000
This 1988 Jeep Wrangler needs some cosmetic work, but still runs! No major repairs needed. Does not have doors, the vinal windows were busted during a hail storm and the drivers seat and seat belt are a little bit makeshift right now, but you can still drive it.
Would be a great low budget fix-up project!

Assuming the engine and trans are in good shape and you know you want the swaps do it. There probably is enough other parts you can sell off the old Jeep to off set much of the costs.
91 was actually the first year for fuel injection in the Yj. but yes... pull the engine. You could part the thing out and possibly make your money back.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. While I'm thinking this deal over, I'm also looking at a 1999 4.0 out of a TJ with only 13K miles on it. It comes complete (intake manifold, throttle body, FI, etc) with the only item missing being the wiring harness which the seller is trying to dig up. He told me he pulled the 4.0 to put in a 4.7L Stroker, but that the 4.0 runs fine. I also recall reading that the T-150 trans will bolt right up to the newer 4.0 engines with the right adapter? Is that correct
?
The seller is asking $600. Anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks again

A 99 4.0 with only 13k on it for $600. Thats a good friggin deal. Take it. Worse thing that can happ is you have to buy a harness from painless.
