Idle air control might be a good place to start as it seems to only happen at low engine rev's.
What about the air filter, is it clean?
Is it happening with the eng at operating temp or when cold?
OK, I have a 1996 ZJ with a inline 6. I just recently got back from Afghanistan, and the Jeep started giving me problems after about a month. It's stalling on me when I come to a stop or running at low speeds in the parking lots. But it doesn't do it all the time. This is a list of things I have done so far:
I have a brand new battery
New Plugs and wires
New Coil (because of trouble code P0351)
New Cap and rotor
New fuel filter
My next move is the Idel Air control valve.
I took it to a local shop and it wouldn't act up for them. I'm just looking for some advise, and it's not showing any more codes when I use the scan tool.

I had similar problems with another vehicle and it eneded up being a mouse house in the air box under the filter LOL couldnt see it until you renmoved the cleaner,
IAC may be the problem but when mine went bad it made the idle surge up down from say normal idle 650rpm - 1200rpm every couple seconds. Got a replacement wt the local bone yard for $50.
Not the Air Cleaner. I have a 8" cone K&N that I just cleaned last week. It happens at all temps. I just changed the IACV, and it seems to be running good. But it doesn't happen all the time so I will drive it for a while and see.
Another thing you could check if the problem persists is the crank position sensor. They are typically at the back of the engine, in the top of the transmission bellhousing. Because of where they are positioned, dirt, mud and other trash tends to collect there. Also, if you've had a leaky rear main seal or valve cover , oil can cake on the CPS and make it read it's signal like crap.
OK, it's not the IACV, it ran great for 2 days and now it's acting up again. I took it to a shop and it wouldn't act up for them. This is damn frustrating. I guess I'll check the CPS (thanks crazy4ink) next and see what goes on. Will the O2 sensor cause a similar problem?

If it were the o2 would'nt you get a check engine light?
Was it driven while you were "in country". Bad gas/water in gas??.
Run Seafoam thru the T/B and in gas tank.
Throwin ideas out there.
Ok I had a sort of similar problem a couple of years ago with a 1500 ram that I blew the engine on. This was obviously a truck that I frequently went mudding in. After replacing the engine I could get it to start an run just fine but when I would try to give it some gas it would choke itself out and be difficult to start. Needless to say I thought it was a simple problem. So started throwing parts at it. Replaced the CPS, all the O2 sensors, fuel pump, pressure regulator, new distributor, tried to get the timing right for a week, replaced ALL the injetors (at $65 a piece) and a few other random parts. Was ABOUT to buy a new ECM when I had a buddy look at it. It turns out that the CAT was just completely clogged with mud so it wouldnt allow the proper flow through the exhaust and built up to much back pressure. So needless to say after about 1200 bucks it just needed a 100 dollar service at a muffler shop.......Not saying that it's your problem but don't get to caught up in crazy gremlins and remember all your basics. Let me know when you figure it out though.
bad gas!
