Default RCI 2161a fuel cell install

About 2 years ago, I moved my OEM TJ tank up into the "bed" of my Jeep. Moving the OEM tank is pretty easy. I used my Kilby skid plate as my tank mount, making 2 crossmembers to bolt the tabs on the skid to. Has been working great but space since moving the tank has been at a premium.

Here is my configuration as it stands right now:

Here is the RCI 2161a fuel cell that I am going to. Yeah, I'm going from 19 gallons to 15 gallons, but I don't think that will hurt anything big picture.

Here is what m fuel cell now looks like with the filler neck installed and the adaptor so that I can run my OEM pump/sending unit

Now I jsut need to get 2 fittings for the top of the fuel cell so that I can hook into my EVAP assembly. Once I do that, the Jeep should see anything different than stock.

I'll post more pics once I get everything finished.

We got my fuel cell completely finished today and Damien figured out the needed mods to the OEM vacuum lines so that my EVAP canister still functions correctly and I don't throw any check engine lights or codes. I will take some finished product pics tomorrow and post them along with some part numbers.

Part numbers would be sweet. Curious though, with your previous set up, had you ever considered enclosing it so that you could ever run a full top again? What kind of options are out there for it? You fuel cell looks really sweet, can't wait to see finished product.

I wish I had known about the adapter kit when I did mine. I have the 2171 (horizontal) in my jeep mounted on top of a tuffy roll out tool box. For the Evap lines I just took the old pieces out of my stock tank and drilled a hole to fit in the top side of the tank. As far as enclosing the tank in a top, I currently have mine in a Bestop Halftop. The only problem I have found is listening to the fuel pump, I have not had any problems with vapors or fumes.
A simple misunderstanding gets a lot less simple when you add choppers and a SWAT team.

I finished this about 6 months ago and had great success with it. The biggest problem I had with the setup was the capacity. RCI bills it as a 15 gallon tank, however you can only get 10 gallons into it.

About 3 weeks ago I took this setup out and replaced it with a larger aluminum tank that we made. I was also changing to a small block chevy with a TBI setup so the Jeep fuel pump was making too much fuel pressure.

I'm actually selling my complete setup (tank, pump and sending unit) if you are interested.
