    Question Tire question

Doing some planning and I need some tech advice. So since my 08' Wrangler X is an everyday driver I dont want to go larger then 33" tires due to gas and all that other good stuff. Would I have to get a 2" lift or can I mod my flares and make room. I dont think I'll have to play with axles and gearing if I'm only going to 33" but feel free to IT me if I'm wrong. Any sugestions on suspension and tire companys?

What are your plans for the jeep? DD, trail rig, dual purpose? This plays a big factor in what type of tire you choose. AT or MT? A little more info please.

Right now I'm mostly drivin on road and sand w/ the occasinal trail so dual purpose for sure. I'm looking at MT tires right now but if theres a good AT I'll consider it as well since i do drive all over the place.

I dont have a XJ but have read alot about them and know that they can tuck 35s with a very mild lift. So I think you would be cutting it very close with 33s but could get them to work but as soon as you get off road or any sort of flex you would have problems with rub. Since you say its a daily driver I would recommend not "out-tiring" it for what you realistically want to do with it. A nice set of 32s will do just fine for you and most likely in certain situations might have some rub problems in hard cases. But I had 33s on my previous DD 03 TJ and gas mileage was TERRIBLE and already 5th gear was worthless cause it was not re geared. I'd say for what it sounds like you want to do stick with a mild set of BFG AT's 32s and you will be pretty happy with the upgrade and still stay within reason. And if it turns out to rub to much just slap a 1-2" spacer lift on it

JK X I thought that only a BB would get you 33's with no rubs. WFTW needs to hit this thread up.

I would highly suggest running the BB. No Need to stuff the tires at normal ride height. The BB are cheap enough to not worry about it. If you are not going to see rocks and nasty mud, the BFG A/Ts in a 33 will fit your purpose perfectly.
98 TJ, 4.5" RE springs, Custom stretched triangulated 4-link, Clayton Trans and Engine Skids, Hp60s, 5.38s, ARB front, Detroit rear, 37" BFG Krawler Red Label, H2 wheels, InnerAirLocks, and much more.
