    Default Broke down. Ideas?

So heading home, 5th gear around 45-50 mph no problems at all until I noticed that the engine was no longer running..... no pops or bangs.... nothing. It now will not start. I have fuel, power, nothing seems to be broken and / or missing. I just put a new cap and rotor on there.. I was told it could be a sensor but I forget which one the guy said. I'll be tearing into it tomorrow and will be reading this before I run out there.

Thanks for any information you may contribute.

won't START or won't CRANK......if it won't crank thats an easy solution to troubleshoot down to. But if it's turning over it just won't start then........it's gonna be more than someone can accurately diagnose over the computer. But go over all your bases......air, fuel, and spark. If you are POSITIVE you have all of those do a quick compression test. It's the best starting point anyways.

That's a major bummer. I'm interested to see what that problem turns out to be.

I had a chevy cavalier that pretty much did the same thing awhile back. It was getting fuel, the pressure was good, spark was good. Everything seemed to check out. Then one of my buddies said to check the ignition module. I pulled off the ignition module and took it to Advance Auto and they did a free test on it and it checked out to be bad. Bought a new one and put it in and the car fired up. Just an idea for you to throw around. Keep us posted.

You just put a new cap and rotor on. Maybe it is something as simple as the cap just came loose.
I'm Mike, make sure you spell it right, because I do not want to get the wrong A$$hole in trouble.

If you do not have time to do it right the first time, how do you have time do do it over?

check your tps sensor on the back of your throttle body. it should be throwin codes, so a code reader would be helpful right now.

couple easy ways to check your fuel is one turn of the stereo and listen for the pump to prime when you turn on the electricity. If that comes on be sure to get a cheap gauge at a auto parts store and check your pressure up to your fuel rail. Make sure if your pump is coming on that it's pushing enough pressure. Although as long as you can hear it kick on you should at least get it to idle.

for spark, simply pull out your #1 plug and leave it attached to your wire hold it relatively close to your block and try to crank. Just watch and make sure you can see an arch.

fuel pump is bad. primes but does not carry enough pressure and sounds "sick" according to my buddy and will be replaced.
