Default 2004 TJ X Resto Project thread *She's Alive!!*

So this is what I'm going to be doing. My TJ has seen better days, and I'm making it right. Tomorrow I will be taking pictures to show you how bad the start point is, and my progress from there. This is mostly so that I can get suggestions on how to go about it. Pics and mod lists to follow.

Current Modifications (from nose to tail):
    Smittybilt Prerunner F. Bumper
    Smittybilt XRC8 winch
    Currie Anti Rock
    Kilby PS skid
    6" flares
    ARB Snorkel
    RE 4.5 SF lift
    1" Daystar BL
    AA SYE
    Tom Woods Driveshaft
Ford 8.8 Rear Axle (4.56 LSD)
    GroundPounderFab rear swingout
    Herculined
    Bucket seats
    Uniden CB setup
Footlocker in place of the back seat
    MPAC on rear tailgate

    Problems (date annotated)(DATE FIXED):
    1. Engine bay is FILTHY and running abnormally loud. AC compressor is bypassed due to shot pulley bearing. We'll see what I do about that. (14FEB2009)(15FEB2009)

    2. Dana 30 pinion nut came loose and kablooey'd my front end. Dead-lining problem (14FEB2009)(14MAR2009)

    3. CB is shot from stupid water excursions. (14FEB2009)

    4. Vehicle Speed Sensor and Speedometer adapter was broken during SYE install. Never fixed it. (14FEB2009)(24FEB2009)

    5. Never placed snap ring on output shaft to engage the speedometer gear, therefore speedometer gets no info=CEL.(14FEB2009)(24FEB2009)

    6. Rear track bar bolt at the frame was wrong when I put it on. I just tightened it as far as it would go and it's not good enough. (14FEB2009)

    7. Stereo antennae needs to be un-jimmyrigged and reconnected. (14FEB2009)

    8. 8.8 Ebrake install needs to be completed. (14FEB2009)(21 &24FEB2009)

    9. No reverse lights. (14FEB2009)(15FEB2009/Backup Lights)(Reverse Lights Pending)

    10. Tires are shot. One is dry rotted, the others blow. (14FEB2009)(02MAR2009)

    11. Seat brackets need to be replaced. I ghetto-installed them. Undo retardation, reinstate comfort and common sense.(14FEB2009)(21FEB2009)

    12. Herculiner rubbed through by feet from improper application. (14FEB2009)(24FEB2009)

    13. Lot's of noise coming from the bellhousing. (14FEB2009)

    Plans to fix:(date completed)
    1. Axle issue: I have a lead on a cheap Dana 30 with 4.56's already installed. Buying that and new LCA mounts from Currie and having them burned on (Thanks Rob and Damien). DONE

    2. Ebrake: I have to buy another equalizer because someone (05Warrior) busted the ziptie holding it up and I lost it going down the street. Going to pick up that and two cables in March to finish it off. DONE

    3. Tires: BFG KM2's. Hopefully March as well, God bless my wife . Actually Trxus MTR's. Done

4: Last thing so I can get it inspected and plated again. Speedo problems. I'm getting the snap ring, updated speedo gear, and speed sensor from the stealership and getting that going again so my CEL goes off.

That's it for now. Pics to follow tomorrow.

    Dirty ass engine bay.

    Front diff that's shot.

    Pinion angle is off.

Reverse lights and backup lights that aren't working

Welded seat bracket. WTF was I thinking?

Uninstalling a lot of electronic components like GPS and CB. A lot of crap is shot because I spent so much time in the water.

Stick the dual primed C4 in the engine compartment, and back off at least 400 meters, then let her rip!

The bravest of all Spartans was Dienekes. It is said that on the eve of battle, he was told by a native of Trachis that “the Persian archers were so numerous that, when they fire their volleys, the mass of arrows will block out the sun.”

Dienekes, however, quite undaunted by this prospect, remarked with a laugh, “Good. Then we’ll fight in the shade!”

Believe it or not I almost did brother. The I was looking through some pics of great times I have had in it and realized I could not abandon my baby in a rough patch. She is sick but I will mend her. Wait till you see the pics and problem list. You will say 'thats only 5 years old?!

EDIT: I will be editing the original post with the initial problems and initial pics. As I fix things I will post more pics and such.

Looks like a lot going on there. No matter how bad she looks, she is still a Jeep. Keep her alive! Good Luck!

Glad to hear you got a plan and are resurrecting the Jeep. None of your problems look that severe, so you should be able to get everything square pretty quick. Let me know if you need any help!

Looks like a big list of small things. Def should just fix them and keep your Jeep.

    JeepinSoldier:

I mean the actual antennae cable behind the glove box. Should be as easy as ordering from the dealership.

As far as seat brackets, I need the brackets that fix the chair to the floor. Four bolts, also known as a slider.
