    Default What's the differance?

What's the difference between a 98 TJ and an 03 TJ?

I just helped a buddy from work (who will be here soon, I hope) get into his FIRST Jeep!!!

I have a 98 and he just picked up an 03...

What are some things that will be different when I start working on his TJ with him???

Shouldn't be any difference, maybe the soft top/windshield. Any parts on his should fit nicely on yours.

Almost nothing chassis-wise, but there are small differences in tailgate hinges, door strikers, diameter of roll bar padding, consoles, etc. It's all small exterior and interior differences.

There are a few diffrences between the 97-02 Wranglers and the 03-06.

One diffrence is that for the 03-06 Wranglers, they switched from a Saginaw style steering gear box to a Mercedes design. The box and the mounting bolt locations are diffrent. Heavy duty/Performance gearboxes from AGR and PSC are diffrent for the diffrent model years.

The mount for the battery tray is also diffrent. The 97-02 has a large hole in either side. The holes on the 03-06 are smaller requiring enlargement if ductwork for a Snorkle is going to be routed through there.
05 LJ Unlimited Rubicon. RE 3.5" short arm lift. 1" body and motor mount lift. 35" BFG M/T KMII's. 5.13 gears. Skid row and Jeep Medic belly up skid plates. Rokmen and Jeeperman bumpers. PSC rockers and full corners. Line X'd interior. Warn 9.5ti. Dual batteries. Dual tops. Snorkel. Full and half doors.

Very True with the Battery Box. I had to drill 2 holes to mount my ARB Snorkel. Not to much of a pain.
