    Default Center Console

How do I get the center console off of a '97 Wrangler? I had some loose change in the ash tray and it bounced out and into the console right below. At 65mph the rattling is unbearable!!

    LOL,
At 65mph the rattling is unbearable!!
    1. along the windshield there is a 4 inch wide plastice piece, it has the fixed vents the direct the air to the windshield. It pops up pretty easy just pry up along carefully it is flimsy.

    2. On top of the bezel that was under no 1 you'll see two phillips head screws that hold the center bezells top. behind your ashtray is a third screw. Once those are removed the center bezell pulls away from the dash.

    3. when putting the screws back in on top of the bezell dont over tighten, I broke off one of the tabs when I did. But one seems to be holding ok.

Do you mean the bezel that surrounds the radio and HVAC controls, or the center console that is between the seats and the shifter protrudes out of? It sounds like you mean the bezel, right?

When reinstalling the bezel, the spring steel clips protruding from the inside of the bezel near the HVAC controls can get bent sideways pretty easily which prevents the bezel from seating properly. Make sure to carefully place them into their slots which will cause the bezel to snap back into place on both sides.
