Sounds too tight. May try loosening it up just to see.
Just got a new serpentine belt put on my XJ. The past couple days it has been squeeling like a son of a bitch on start up. Is this normal with a new belt in combination probably with the cold? I looked at it and it doesnt seem to be overly tight or anything out of the ordinary.

Squealing is not normal. I don't know about it being too tight though. could be a bad pulley that showed up with the new belt and a little more tension then the old belt.
I'm Mike, make sure you spell it right, because I do not want to get the wrong A$$hole in trouble.
If you do not have time to do it right the first time, how do you have time do do it over?

you have to loosen the idler a little bit on the drivers side by your p/s pump them there is a bolt behind you ps pump that is your tensioner. wierd i know and dont like it but everything about a jeep.
Adjust your idler pulley so the belt can barely be deflected maybe a half-inch by pushing hard with your thumb on the belt in the middle of its longest unsupported length.![]()
