My favorite piece of camping gear is my folding lounger chair with dual mesh cup holders. Nothing like leaning back in a comfortable chair on a cool spring night with your feet against the fire and a cold beer. Next to that, cooler for drinks and food, folding table for preparing meals, cookware, paper plates and plastic forks and spoons, paper towels, dish soap, hand soap, TP, laterns (propane), lots of 550 cord and carabiners to hang everything, flashlights, sandles for kicking around the camp and shoes for daily wearing, ground tarp for underneath tent, tent, sleeping pads, sleeping bags, hatchet, saw, bug spray, baby wipes (for easy cleanup), matches/lighter, cloth towels, frisbee/football, firewood / firestarters, water jugs, extra batteries, gerber/leatherman tool, and BEER.
As for the jeep, jack, first aid kit, duct tape (the good sticky "cloth" kind, not that cheap crap), tire iron (have seen this left out before), CB, extra coolant and oil, a couple hose clamps, needle nose pliers, channel locks, screwdriver combo, ratchet set, adjustable wrench, jumper cables, open ended wrenches, fuses, tow strap, zip ties....
I'm sure others will have some other ideas but that should get you started for a basic trip
