    Default D44 Detroit Question

Ok well I asked this question elsewhere with no answer SO...

I found a Detroit from a HP Front D44 at a pretty good deal. Is it the same Locker for all D44's? Will a detroit from a HP D44 fit an XJ D44 rear?

When you click add to cart it will give you a part number.
Look for the vehicle it is coming out of and the vehicle it is going into, if the part number is the same you know it will work.

yes it's the same providing it's the correct Carrier break. What gears are you running and getting it from?

It should be the same (internal) axle spline count.

To spring off Highlandercj-7's comments, if it had a 3.73 or lower gear and that's what you're going with then your okay. If it had 3.92 gears (or higher numerically) and you are going with 4.10 or up in gear ratio then you're okay. I hope that made sense....

I'm fairly sure all 44's break at 3.73/3.92... A different sized carrier is used for gear 3.73 and less than 3.92 and up. If you current gear set is in the same range as the donor you should be fine...

That is true, the carrier break is 373 and 392 but there are Thick gear sets available to convert the 373 series carrier to the lower (456 488) gears. So I need to know what ratio is in both rears and has anyone ever messed with it? (lol) To accurately tell you yeah it will work.
