Default Anyone ever use Slime with aluminum wheels?

I read on the site for that Slime stuff that is supposed to stop leaks that Slime is not supposed to be used on aluminum wheels or wheels that have any existing damage such as minor rust or peeling of the chrome.

Anyone use it on Aluminum wheels with any luck?

Don't use it, your tire man will hate you when you go to get new tires.
I'm Mike, make sure you spell it right, because I do not want to get the wrong A$$hole in trouble.

If you do not have time to do it right the first time, how do you have time do do it over?

You can use it and it will work. But the problem is that it is corrosive and will eat the aluminum. Besides, like airforce26 said - the tire guys HATE it. I used to refuse to do tires that had it and made the jr guys do em. The stuff is a real Bi*%^ to clean off. If it stays in too long you may not get the wheels to balance.

That stuff sucks. This coming from a prior tire guy. I used to hate when people used that stuff. They would come in to my shop and bitch about the balance on the tires we sold them. With the crap in there your tires will not balance properly. The stuff sloshes around and throws off the balance. It will cause problems with aluminum wheels. It is somewhat corrosive and will start pitting the wheels and eventually cause holes in thru the wheels. It will also cause chrome wheels to start flaking, and when that starts there is no way to stop it, short of having your wheels stripped and rechromed which is usually more expensive than buying new wheels.

Also, in the back of my mind I think I remember a tire person getting hurt or killed when a tire with that stuff in it blew up. Not positive but I think it happened.

I think you're thinking of Fix-a-Flat, that crap that comes in an aerosol can. When it first came out the contents was highly flammable. That's why it had a bright yellow or green sticker that was supposed to be stuck near the valve stem. There were reports that people were injured when working with that stuff around open flames or sparks.

Heard bad things about the fix-o-flat stuff. Not going to lie, I would rather my wife use it if stuck on the side of the road and then I will deal with it later, than have her changing her tire out there with two little kids in the truck

Copy that! That's what it was intended for. Not for tha lazy a&* cheapos who use it on a regular basis. I've had guys tell me they have used it 3-4 times in the same tire over several years on the same tire. Man are they in for a surprise when they have to replace the tire.

I carry fix a crap when we travel. The last thing I want is to be half way between Vegas and anywhere and catch a flat. Those damn doughnuts are only good for so long. It will get me to the next town where I can buy a new tire. When in town I become the fix a flat. The newer types aren't flammable like the old stuff. Probably too many law suits.
