Default CB won't transmit or receive anything other than weather info

Turned on the CB today when we hit the trail. I cannot transmit anything, nor can I hear any normal radio traffic. I can press the button to get the weather info, and that comes in clear, but other than that we had no coms. Ideas? I messed with the squelch, nothing.

Squelch up and down, no static at all. Tried to transmit on different freqs, nothing. I am going to check the connections out tomorrow, but I wonder if the antenna somehow got disconnected and the only reason I am able to pick up the weather is it is a strong enough signal to get picked up without the antenna? Not really sure, but am going to poke around tomorrow if time allows.

I'm FAR from a electronics wiz, but it does sound like a break somewhere in the antenna coax. On the other hand I would think you would have a static problem with no antenna.

Sound to me like you have a broken wire in your mic. If you know someone with the same radio try their mic and it should work.

My Cobra 75 hand mic went bad after a few weeks, did the same thing you are refering to Ryan. Yet when I hit the mic, it would work for an instant then go dead. Had to get another one...

Got the same setup you have. Not good news. Thanks.

Having about the same problem. I have a meter on the CB and was also pegging out in the lower ranges. Was told that I probably have a short, and my SWR settings are too low, which means the antene needs to be raised. I HATE E-PROBLEMS!

    That's the answer there.
Happened to me when I was hooking up the CB in the FSJ. My ground got diconnected. I could pick up the weather but nothing else. Soon as I regrounded, CB worked fine..
