    Default 4WD Problems.......

Last Saturday I took my new jeep Wrangler Rubicon out on a small trail just after a good bit of rain...well needless to say I needed to use my 4WD. After fighting with it to go into 4L first of all, I finally got it to go, but after driving for a bit...and no not overdoing it...there was a loud bang. Almost like a shotgun went off, and I noticed my 4WD shifter was not engaged anymore. So i tried and fought with it once again and when i managed to get it engaged this time it sounded baddd. I got out and noticed that there had been some considerable damage done to the vehicle. After limping it home and spraying it down to see the extent, I saw that the U-joint, yoke, ball joint, and steering arm were all broken! This wasn't just on one side...it was on both sides!!!! After getting it towed to the dealer I am facing now possibly not having the warranty not covering it....even though in my warranty it specifically states these parts are covered....any ideas? Anyone else hear or expierence something similiar? And no I wasn't hot doggin the jeep or doing anything outside the limitations of the vehicle.

Why wouldn't it cover it? Sounds like someone is trying to pull a fast one on you. Don't take the vehicle back without a good damn reason. At least check with us first.

I plan on fighting this as much as i have too and as long as i need to until Chrysler honors the warranty. I mean hell its a 2009 with less than 2000 miles....maybe no more trails for awhile. But the dealer did tell me it would probably be in my best interest to file a claim through my insurance company.....lol

Screw that. I would call Chrysler directly. I shit you not. Someone on here has done that when the dealership was yankin' their chain a bit. I would talk to their manager. Do you have pics of the damage?

I wouldn't say no more trails. Just make them pay for their faulty crap.

Yeah I do have some pics...I will post them soon. And as far as calling Chrysler the only numbers I seem to get are the customer service numbers and they are on my side except for wanting to give me corporate numbers in Michigan..."those are Private". But the warranty department wants the warranty to cover it, but the decision comes from the district manager for this area who represents Chrysler.

well, luckily you can go over his head too. I would be blowing up chrysler's phone. See if you can peace out of work early one day and get to a phone where minutes don't matter. Then get on the horn at Chrysler and keep going until it's resolved. Customer service numbers are fine, because you can always get transferred at that point.

Yea, keep after them HOT AND HEAVY as I went round and round with the STEALERSHIP here and finally they fixed it. Get to the district rep and if no staisfaction, go above that. They are obligated to give you these POCs at the STEALERSHIP. Don't let them do this as it is BS, stay on them. Is their more than one STEALERSHIP in your area, if so contact them all...

Have you done any mods? The more you grip, the better deal you should get. Don't give up and bug the crap out of them.

i don't know if there is a difference between regional manager and district manager but when i did mention regional manager at a dealership once they freaked and things went much better. oh and try to be loud on the showroom floor when they again say sorry it's not covered, that draws attention too.
