    Default Winch Help

I got a new control box in for my winch. I connected the wires as required.(solenoids pre-wired) Well I have 12v going in, but NOTHING coming out. I can hear the solenoids clicking when I press the button, but nothing going to the motor. I checked it with my Voltmeter while engagine the winch.

Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated. If I had 12v at the motor wires I would consider a bad motor, but I've got nothing.

    It's a Ramsey Rep8000.

Hmmm I looked up the winch and there weren't any specific diagrams. I'll see if they have one for the solenoid hook up.

I have a REP 8000 as well. This isn't the best picture, but it might help.

The yellow, green, and red wires go to the switch. I don't remember which one is what, but just play around with them, it's not hard to figure out.

I guess I was very vague with my post. So here is another thing:

It's a Gorilla winch controller. The box that came with it was taken apart and missing wires. So I bought one that has a remote unit installed.

Bobby thanks for the picture I'll check it out at home.

I only paid 150 for the winch. No remote. I hooked it up, and poof. A cloud of smoke came billowing out of the box. Took it apart, and one of the wires grounded out. Since I had to build a remote, and had to replace some of the wires, I ended up getting two new solenoids for 25 bucks, built new heavier battery cables, and then rewired the entire thing. Works like a champ. Just put new cable on it. So I got a used 8000 # winch, new remote, new electronics, and a new winch cable, all for under $200.

I think you MAY need to switch your top wire (neg?) with the third wire from the top (pos). I'll take the cover off my box tomorrow when it's light outside.

My wires weren't color coded, because they didn't have red in the gauge that I wanted.

Thanks for your help mp101v. I figured why not find the old solenoid and wire them the same. Did it and RRRRRRrrrr the motor works and it goes in the direction it says on the control.
