    Default The build begins...

Since I need a cheap project...I'm going to start building my storage area in the back of the jeep. I'm not cheaping out on what I'm building, but I can buy as I build. I'm thinking of covering the entire back of my tj about an inch below the tub lip so that I can still take on/off my hard top. I want to make a lid that pulls up with the air cylinders kinda like the ones on the back glass of hard tops. That, however would limit my ability to strap down equipment on top of the box. Also, where would my dog go? hmm...maybe its time to get those nets....ideas people ideas...

Not inexpensive by any means, but I recommend that you save your money and get this Tuffy oversize cargo box for TJ:

    http://www.tuffyproducts.com/p-116-0...y-lockbox.aspx

The top will lift with gas struts like you want - and you can modify it with bedliner and cargo tiedowns like I did. Then if you have cargo on top, you can still access the other cargo inside from the rear door.
05 LJ Unlimited Rubicon. RE 3.5" short arm lift. 1" body and motor mount lift. 35" BFG M/T KMII's. 5.13 gears. Skid row and Jeep Medic belly up skid plates. Rokmen and Jeeperman bumpers. PSC rockers and full corners. Line X'd interior. Warn 9.5ti. Dual batteries. Dual tops. Snorkel. Full and half doors.

As much as I like that box and have wanted one, 600 bucks isn't in the budget anytime soon with tires and all. That, and my dog will lose all rest area in the back. So what I'm thinking is a three compartment that line the outside of the jeep with it hollow in the middle with the front end open for the dog to go in and out. The hollowed spot will be covered by a platform that will be rhinolined and have tie down points for big stuff like my tent, mine and my wife's chairs.....etc.

Just get this and save yourself the trouble. with your back seat taken out, you should have plenty of room for the dog and you will still be able to secure stuff. 120 bucks aint too bad.

I have that, but it's not as big as it looks. However, maybe I should hold off, because I see the elevated Olympic basket. I'm gonna still run numbers and measurements, but we'll see.

I'm not going to sell it till my other project it done. I just get pissed cause it's too small to store my tools. Maybe it's time to reorganize. maybe supplement some storage space instead of getting crazy...

    If not, sold to Jason
