    Default T-18 Trans

I was wondering if a T18 trans out of a J-10 truck would fit into my 84 CJ. If not what would I be looking at to make the swap.

    Thanks Jimmy

You have to swap out the input shaft. The J10 is too long. Also look into the year the J10 is and what type of transfer case and compare it to what you want to mate it up against. If you can get a package deal do it.

If your looking for a cheap trans NO. They can be made to fit but it will cost your about 450.00 in parts. They are longer so you need a new input shaft and various other parts to convert it to the CJ. So unless it's free and you can do the work your self, your better off with one out fo a CJ or a Ford. The Ford is cheaper and easily converted to the Jeep too. The NP435 is another good canidate if your go ford.

Jim's Offroad in Oakridge TN was the best place I found for T-18 parts and Tech when I rebuilt mine in 98'. They were knowledgeble and reasonable. I had asked them about the conversion to CJ parts, but I lucked out and found one out of a CJ.

Hunt a little longer and find the right one, it helps the wallet and time. T-18 can bolt up to 258 bell housing. I used advance adapter and clocking ring to mate to D300.

Do you think I would be better off going with the ford T-18? that way I ca use the dana 300 transfer. I found one for 200.00. I belive the adapter is around 4 to 450.00. and that icludes everything...

I have a T-18 butted up th a 360 with a Dana 300 t-case. There is a adapter between the bell housing and another between the T-case the factory skid plate was also relocated to make the fit.
