Default used winch - what 2 look 4

Never have had a warn. They said it is an older unit that was not used. What should I look for and what is best way to test? I've called & am setting a time to see it. Pic shows it to be an X9000i. Any & all help is appreciated. http://madison.craigslist.org/rvs/1162357754.html

Great price. Unless you have the orginal Bill of Sale, the warranty does not apply, or at least that's happened to a friend.

the fairlead looks like it was used a few times. All should be used once to get the cable wound tight (I found out the hard way), but that one looks like a few uses had been made at least by the fairlead, the cable looks real good from what I ca see.

He told me the fairlead and mount was used. The winch was replaced and never used. Run out and ran but nothing was winched - or so he says. Hence my question on what to look for & best way to test.

plug it in and listen for grinding and feel for heat, once you get it home take it apart and clean it out and regrease it, i did this to my HF winch and it lasted 4 years till i sold it to a buddy

    1. Warn will not honor any warranty.

    2. Unit pulled/slid my 04 F250 on gravel driveway (20 feet) with no heat issues.

    3. No kinks or broken strands in cable.

    4. No owners manual.

    5. He agreed to take $300 for it.

    6. It is an XD9000i of unknown age. Warn was not able to help me figure it out.

Bottom line - is it worth $300?

    I say yes - she says.... (don't know - I haven't told her yet )

Need as much input tonight / morning. Meeting again tomorrow with $.

    THANKS
