He'll have troubles. Believe that.
My Buddy wants to know if anyone has had any trouble running 33"s on thier stock TJ. His is a 06 TJ,4.0,6sp,and 30Fr. 44 Rr.axle.Gear rate?? Don't know shit about TJ's so any help is good help![]()
He'll have troubles. Believe that.
The basic rule is:
Stock height = 31s
2" to 3" = 32s
4" = 33s
5" to 6" = 35s
Now with mods like a highline or tube fenders you can go bigger tires with less lift. You could stuff whatever you want in there, but under any kind of articulation, they'll rub. I have an '05 with the same drivetrain as his, so he should be running 3.73s.
I had 3" with 33's, but also had rubbing. It's true![]()
He doesn't need any lift to run 33's.
He just needs to be willing to hack up the body some.
The above is a general guideline. Everyone will chime in with different heights they have theirs at and tire size. 32 should be fine on stock, with the appropriate bumpstops. 33s are pushing it. Gearing is the biggest issue. Prob has 3.73 in it. I would recommend at least 4.10s. But that is just me. With the 6 spd, it won't be as bad, but not the best either. My .02 Take it for what it's worth.

For lift he can go cheaper...
1" BL, 1" MML, 2" BB. He'll clear 33's fine and shouldn't need an sye. If his rear axle is a D44 and he's got a 6 spd, I doubt he has 3.07 gears. His jeep would be sluggish with larger tires, but it will still be driveable. I drove an X model 5 spd with 3.07 gears on 33" tires for almost a year.
