When you bench checked it was the solenoid engaging?
Went out to start the Heap and no joy.
Background:
1983 Jeep CJ w/ 1979 AMC 304
Dual Optima yellow tops
Mean Green starter
Last trip I was playing in the creek and had water up over the floor boards.
Turn the key and nothing, no starter nosies but I have power to lights, radio, etc. Throw the charger on it for about 24 hours, come back and I have 13.8 volts at the battery. Try again and the same thing. I jumped the starter solinoid and got a click out of the starter, but it didn't even try to spin.
Get under it to make sure the wires are tight on the starter and bang on it a little bit to make sure it isn't stuck. Still nothing.
Pull the starter so I can try to bench test it and notice some water leaking out. I took the starter apart and dried it out with some WD-40, cleaned up some corosion and put it all back together. Put it back in the Jeep and still got nothing.
So that is where I am now. Any suggestions?![]()

You drive cattle, heard sheep, Lead me follow me or get the F#%$ out of my way!
Take the starter to a parts store that does free testing.
Clean up your grounds/connections and try again.
