    Default Rubicon Locker

Question out of curiosity. Does a Rubicon D44 Factory Locker work on a regular TJ, or XJ D44

I'm about 99% certain the carrier bearings are different. As for "will it physically fit ?" I'm sure it will, but I'm pretty sure you can't do the install. I think the Rubi carrier bearings are bigger or different or something.

Easiest way to confirm is to call Randy's Ring and Pinion ... they'll know 100%.

I wouldn't spend your money on a rubicon locker. I've got them, and they work, but they seem to be pretty finicky and have a tendency to get destroyed when running larger 33" tires.

Finiky - yes ... especially if you get mud on the pumps ... destroyed I'll have to disagree. Once engaged, they are just as strong as anything else. Where they break is during engagement. They don't engage fast due to only operating on like 6-8psi. If your pumps are clogged, they take a while to engage. And if you are getting on one (especially the rear) as it engages, it will break. The rear's weak point is the worm gear used for the limited slip. I have beat on mine with 37" Krawlers ... the lockers have never been my issue. But you can't roll up on an obstacle and engage them like ARBs (ARBs use like 90-100psi) and pound ... gotta give 'em a second ... this is all assuming TJ lockers not JK lockers.

Sketchy at best..... Rubicon's didn't come out till '04 to start.
Yes, you'll have the locker, but you'll still need to get the pump, hoses, switches, and fix the locker. You can get a 44 aussie locker for under $250.

I had an Aussie in there and traded it for a D30 Lockright. I hated it for any kind of driving. I am not looking to buy it I was just curious if they would fit.
