    Default CJ Defroster Duct

Okay, so while searching for the hose in my other question, Shane (XJGumby) found out that the duct that leads from the blower to the windshield channel for the defroster is broken at the windshield. Where do I get an replacement and what's the best way to fix this? Do I have to remove the dash? This is the best photo Shane can get with his little hands.

Easiest way is to remove the dash.

The FSM will tell me how to take off the dash right? I really dont' want to screw it up. While I'm in there I should just replace everything then. phooey. I guess I'll start the stock pile.

You can get the parts that you need to refurb the dash from Quadratec or 4wd.com. Also, Collins Brothers has a lot of CJ stuff.

When taking apart the dash (have fun), undo the speedo, and keep a bungee 'for support on the passenger side' after you take the screws out. (IIRC you might be able to access the defroster tube (upper screws) by pushing the windshield forward <--but it's been a while since I've done that.) I have a mech oil gauge, meaning check all of your wires before pulling the dash out to far.
Now is the best time to get acquainted with all of the behind the scenes wiring. I have a Haynes manual that has the wiring diagrams (it's helped alot since I'm the third owner).
Study the ebb & flow of the cables for your defroster/floor control, fresh air vent (it's a two stage/step process <---it's interesting), and temp control.
Most importantly have fun, and a couple of beverages also help.
Here's the link for http://www.collinsbrosjeep.com/main.htm on the left side of the page is NOS CJ/YJ parts.
    Later, T.J.

You guys are awesome. I'm going to buy the parts before I start taking it apart. I felt the connecting brackets and i felts that it was broken.

While you have the windshield folded and the dash loose, it would be a great time to run a ground wire from your wiper motor case to someplace behind the dash (on the body). You wouldn't believe the difference it makes!
Also a great time to replace all those instrument and indicator bulbs.
