    Default power issue

When going up any type of incline it seems that 5th gear vanishes. I normally have to downshift into 4th. If its a big enough incline then I have to go dowm to 3rd. This problem has only been around for about a week or so. The only thing that I have done is put on 31x10.50x15 tires. Anyone out there have any ideas as to why I am losing power on inclines/hills?

    By the way, I have a 2002 TJ X 4.0/I6.

    Thanks in advance

I had 31x10.5 tires on my 04x with 3.07 gears.... 5th gear sucked. I always had to down shift to 4th or 3rd depending on how steep it was.

If you think you'll end up with 33's, I'd just save up to re-gear to 4.56.

sounds like gears for sure, verify by replacing them with some donut tires for a day and go pull a few good hills.
