    USMC surivial kits

i just put together a 'survuval kit' to throw in the back of my rig with things that i had in my garage just collecting dust (things i've collected over 2 deployments). in my bug out bag i stashed a knife, hatchet, warming layers, poncho, lighter, head lamp, granola bar, nalgene bottle and field water purifier. i always have my first aid kit in there with tow straps, and gas hanging off the back. i got the idea for the bag full o' crap from JP magazine- being military i couldnt believe i never had a backup plan like staying warm and dry. does anyone else have a survival kit at all times? and if so what's in it? im sure i didnt think of everything

I keep blankets, bottled water, and MRE's in all of our vehicles in the winter.

Pretty much the same as yours, just a big knife though, no hatchet. 2 flares, poncho, blanket, 15'x15' plastic sheet, map of area, small 1st aid, 2 mre's, water purification tablets, small water bottle, flash light, and my .40 goes in it when I load up for a trip.

I have a 2Dr JK so a bit more room than the averageWrangler behind the rear seat.

Most of it fits in one of these:

Shovel and hatchet sit behind the bag against the seat, tow straps are in the little under floor storage thing that the JK has. Even with all this stuff I still have a ton of room back there. The bag is packed freaking tight though.

Wow. I have the exact same bag stuffed with survival gear to last about 3 days and an ammo box for my recovery gear.

I was surprised exactly how much stuff that bag would hold. One of my poncho liners is black so that actually stays out of the bag and covers everything inthe back. with the top up you can not see anything back there - out of sight out of mind.

And to think my GF got the bag (and the whole damn Jeep) for me for Christmas.
