Default Rear turn signals work, brake lights work, but....

Rear turn signals work, brake lights work, but when the headlights are on, the rears don't light up at all unless I press the brake or hit the turn signals.

I tried looking in the manual for a fuse that may be the problem, but no luck. Ideas?

Another MJ'er was driving by me the other night honking his horn. I thought he was just saying "hey", but I found out today he was trying to let me know I had no lights in the rear.

Maybe your switch is dead. Sounds like you're having a little electrical hiccup.

Your brake light and tail light is the same bulb, it is a 2 phase bulb, should be a tail light fuse. If no fuse look at bulbs or see if there is power there when lights on.

Fuses looked good. Would a brake light also be called a "stop light"? In the manual it states there is a fuse for the "stop light", but when I checked that fuse it seemed good. I am going to go out there tomorrow and pull every damn fuse under the hood and in the glove box to see if any are bad.

The rear brake lights work, the rear turn signals work, but the tail lights are a no go .and that is a show stopper unless I can jam some chem lights inside the covers for driving at night.

Hmm, not sure where it is grounded. I will poke around tomorrow.

Fuse #1 in the glove box, labeled "parking lights" controls the dash lights and the tail lights. It is a 20A fuse.

    Works now.

I guess it should have been a clue that something was fishy when I had to use a little blue LED light I had hanging from the raingler netting to light up the dash to see how fast I was going on the way home from pluckers. I guess I am not good at putting two and two together.
