When you pull your stockers, see which is longer and go with the longer ones on that axle.
I ordered the Rubicon Extreme Duty 4.5 inch lift kit for my CJ, and also ordered the Skyjacker Nirto 8000 shocks. there is two parts numbers for the shocks;
N8023 (specs) 24.84 / 14.82
N8058 (specs) 22.58 / 13.71
There is also no listing for which is front or back on the boxes, nor the website I ordered them from. Am I correct to assume that the longer N8023 go on the front? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i know the CJ is a hard ride but why go with a harder riding shock

Did your kit not come with shocks? Or did you "upgrade"? I had a 4.5" superflex kit on my last jeep with the RE shocks and LOVED it

When pulled all four old ones, Rancho, were the same size. So I put the longer one on front as the front axle seems to travel more.
My CJ is off-road only for the time being. Once I find a replacement tub, I have a CJ/BBQ rig plan in th eback of my mind.
I had three choices, and the "over kill' in me makes me buy the most expensive.![]()
What year CJ? If it's '82 or newer, the long ones up front.
If it's '81 or older, the long shocks may be to long. (older CJ's have short upper front shock mounts)
I have the same shocks on my CJ, and the ride on or off road is nice. Could be the suspension seats![]()

It's a 77. They longer shocks looked too long for both the front and the back. Not as much for the front, as the shock mounts were further apart on the front than on the back.
I still have yet to put my lift on, and it was lifted by PO with 8 inch shackles, so I have no idea where it will be once the new springs and such are put on.
If all else fails, I will switch them from front to back, or list them on CL and buy shorter ones.
HOLEY MOLEY BATMAN!! Get rid of those things ASAP!
The long shackles really mess with the front end, I wouldn't reccomend going longer than 4-5".
Chances are you have the wrong shocks, unless the shock mounts have been changed/relocated.
My '80 took the same shock all around (stock) I have since put in wide trac axles, and taller mounts up front, (all from an '84CJ) so the front shocks are a different #
