Never done it on a Jeep, but I found the step-by-step and tourque specs for '97 TJ with 4.0 in the FSM. If you need the four banger info, just let me know.
Has anyone done one recently with the one piece rubber gasket? I'm sure I have a handle on it, but I want to know if any of you have any tips?

I did mine a couple of years ago in conjunction with the rear main seal. Evenything is still holding. I used a light coat of RTV grey (and the rubber gasket) for my sealer. The only thing I would've done extra is, I would have installed a hi-volume oil pump.

Thanks for the info! Jacon where did you find that info? Might be a good place to start for other things.![]()
I was doing some research because I've heard while you have OP off you should tackle the rear main as preventitive mx. I found this article while searching for it.

What a freakin PITA! Next time which could be 5 mins after I pour the oil in, I will take the exhaust out all together. Not an easy task with the POS in the way. I went from OP & Gasket to Rear main too. 8)
