I would look to see how much tread they have on them, then compare the cost to a new set. If it still seems like a good deal to you then go for it.![]()
Is it a good idea to buy some used tires? They seem like too good of a deal to pass but I don't have much experience with this kinda thing and am just looking for some feedback. The tires are 31x10.50 BFG Mud Terrain for $400 for all 4 and only have a 1000 miles on them.

I think when I replaced my 31" bfg mts it cost around $1k for 4.
I sold all 4 and the spare with rubicon moab wheels for around $600.
If they have good tread and no side wall damage or plugs, I'd say it's a good deal.

Check tread wear, you need to search for the depth specs. Might want to buy a tire depth gauge. Check side walls and look for/ask about plugs.
Since he's only selling 4, keep in mind you'll need to get another for a spare.

Depends on how anal you are, your spare doesn't have to match. As long as it is the same size. Doesn't even HAVE to be the same size, but we won't get into that right now.
I have only bought 2 sets of new tires between 6 vehicles. Like everyone said, check for damage, abuse, plugs, etc. But there is nothing wrong with buying used tires.

I have had a few sets of used tires, and I say go for it, so long as they are in good condition. You know what a new tire looks like, and a 1K tire looks the same, so, if no damage, go for it.
Unless the 1k miles was doing burnouts.
Served in the USAF and US NAVY!
Check for Dryrot as well.

There is almost nothing I won't buy used. Just make sure you know what you are getting into before you buy.
Check the sidewall for a manufactured year. Anything over 4 or 5 years old might not hold up on the trails. Here is a link to a guide from tire rack.
