    Default My Rack

Now that I got your attention.

I built this rack so that I can mount a basket on top. Let me know what you think. I still need to mount the cross tube in the back so I can mount the basket.

looks good, but can you lower the top with the rack on, or will you have to always have the top up?

do you have any ideas about how to add the cross tube to allow you to remove it to drop the top? Looks good.

Thanks. This one is not as pretty as the ones you will pay 300-800 for but it works for me.

The back down tubes are not capped on top. I have to get some tubing the next size smaller. The cross tube is the same size as the rest. I will weld them together. That way it just slides down into the back tube and I will put either a bolt or some sort of pin about 6-7 inches down the back down tubing to secure it.

    Thanks

I'm not sure what you've attached the 2 rear bars to. If it's just bolted into the tub, I'd recommend a strong reinforcement plate inside the tub where you have it attached. If not, the 1st hit from a tree, parking garage roof, etc... will mangle the tub.
    Looks good though.

I have a plate on the back side of it. I plan on making a bigger plate for the whole inside above the fender well.

The top will still comes down, but with basket will have to come off before. I dont put it down that often though.
