You won't find 6.5" for a better deal but that is high to go on an XJ and still be short arm. I am 6.5" and with some trimming I stuff 35's

I am running a 4.5" from Rough Country. All in all I can't really complain. I will tell you that the rear springs have started to sag within a month of installation (probably about an inch lower than the front. Due to the shitty shackle angle I have already I will be installing a longer rear shackle which should fix both problems I have, sagging and shitty shackle angle. I am running 31" tires and have managed to crumple the rear fender while off roading. You can run 31's with 4.5" but it would be better with some trimming, atleast in the rear.

All in all I think with rough country you get what you pay for. They make a decent lift kit that will get you started for a small price.

If you are looking for cheap kit and do not plan on giving it serious abuse, they are decent. If your one that beats the snot out of everything, keep saving and get something with more beef. IMHO 6.5" on an XJ is good for 33's, it gives the tires room to move. If I was running 35's on it, I'd run 8".

Just my opinion, and that of the 3 guys I helped change out leaf springs- Stay away from Rough Country!

I personally have seen 4 rough country lifts sag, and loose 50-90% of thier lift! (this is on leaf springs-don't know about thier coils)

This has been a problem for a while, and they 'supposedly' fixed the sag problem last year. My buddy Dave was 'garaunteed' he would be getting a set of the 'new and improved' leafs as a replacement.

The 'new and improved' leaf springs lost 3" in under 2 months! And he doesn't beat his XJ.

Another club member had his YJ lift go flat after a year, during his build, while sitting in his garage, with just the tub on! (no motor, no hardtop)

Save up some more cash, and get a good reputable lift!

Here's another one to check out, I'm running thier front long arms, and I know of a couple other guys who have thier stuff. Great performance, and great customer service.
