Default So I cut my rear fenders

OK I cut the rear fenders of the XJ about another 1" and anyone who owns an XJ knows when you do this it opens the rear because you are cutting the pinch seam. What my intent was to reweld the pinch seam but I am rather unhappy with how the cut turned out an I don't think it will weld together the way I hoped so what I am thinking now is get some 1" Pipe. Yes I said pipe, and weld it into the opening. This is not for strenth but rather to make a smoothed edge to I don't cut a tire or worse a hand.

Does this sound feasable to the fabbers out there? SHould I consider something else? I also figure WHEN I do my Exo cage I can weld the cage to the pipe and sheet metal

Sounds like a good idea to me. Just use some EMT conduit and bend it into shape with a conduit bender.

Im sure it will work fine... It might look a little different but different is good... and like you said a smooth edge where hands and tires may go is always a good thing. are you looking to run it up along the whole fender?

Well thats the plan. I first need to get hte jeep running and then get some conduit and a bender and then bring it all over your house with a grinder with grinding wheel and a few cutting wheels and we can make this happen. I do something with the front as well if the back comes out like I Think it will

Can't wait to see it after you have started the piping... that is one of the main reasons I don't want to trim my rear fenders is due to what it opens up after you cut it.. other than just the flex room for the tires... that part I love...
