    Default removing doors from an xj

    has anyone ever made xj doors removable? if so, how'd ya do it. i've thought about replacing those pins in the hinge with a cotter pin. think this would work? pics would be awesome. thanks.

    I think your biggest issue would be insuring your frame doesn't bend at all when the doors are off.... you'll never get them back on.
    Plenty of people remove the doors, but again, you might want to look into stiffening up the frame before you do it.

    yeah i know its a unibody and all and i wondered about that. i've seen people wheel without doors and say that the doors dont add any stability to the frame but i dunno.

    I would check over at NAXJA. I've seen it done. I think it looks kinda silly. I've also seen people put tube doors on their XJs and that doesn't look half bad.

    Yup go on NAXJA to find out good info on it. Personally I wouldn't. It's not that the doors provide rigidness to the XJ, its if you flex like made youw ill have a time of it putting them back in.
    I over flexed my XJ and popped the roof rack rivets off.

    You can also check out cherokeetalk.com there is a tech writeup on how to make half doors, and they look alright.
