Default Steering issues / sloppy front end feeling

For the past few months, my steering/front end has gotten progressively sloppy. Now it's almost to the point where I don't feel comfortable driving it at highway speeds. It's not death wobble, the front end just feels loose.

I've gone through and checked all the basics... track bar, control arms, tie rod all tight.
I'm not getting a light popping sound that I can just barely feel through the steering wheel. It happens usually when making full turns at slow speeds.

    Jeep's an 05 TJ.
    Currie steering
4" lift with adjustable track bar and all adjustable control arms.

I just greased everything last Saturday and felt like the steering was quite a bit better afterwards and the popping sound/feel went away.... however the front end has that loose feeling to it again and the noise is back.

I climbed under it today to look around and noticed this:

It looks like the boot around the drag link tre has no grease left in it anymore. I also noticed a bit of grease on the tie rod and on the front diff cover.

Could this be my only problem, or could I be looking at other issues?
My axle shaft u joints look good, and my ball joints and unit bearings appear to be good as well.

I'm going to go regrease the drag link tre in a bit to see if it feels better afterwards. I'm guessing though, that the tre is probably shot by this point if that's the case. It looks like the dust boot is pulled out from the top side, allowing grease to get pushed out when it moves around.

Anyone else had this problem before?
Any other things I should start looking at?

One loose/bad end on the drag link or tie rod can really give that loose steering feel.

Being as it 'tightened up' after you greased it, then got loose again, I'd say it's time to change the end(s).

Just went out and re-greased it. Cleaned it off and cycled the steering. I think the zerk's shot.... it just spews the new grease back out. I took it for a test drive and it felt pretty good again. Got home and noticed it's still spewing grease out the zerk.
I'm going to replace the zerk. I sent currie an email to see what they say about these ends.

When you regrease, don't over grease that will blow out the boot. The Currie HD just needs alittle grease, be careful.

The tre appears to be shot. Definitely never over greased it. The check ball in the zerk wasn't doing it's job... so the tre never stayed greased. Replaced the zerk and regreased it today. Drives better, but still some slop and some noise. Called Currie up to purchase a new tre... looks like they're going to send me a free one
Great customer service on their part!

After you install the new tre, just a few pumps of the grease gun its all it takes. I've install around 12 of these HD steering and the first set I did'nt read the instructions and I damage all of them.
