when that happens its a vacume line, start tracing the lines around the motor making sure they are all plugged in. also there is a vacume canister mounted under the battery.

There's a tiny black line that runs from the drivers side. It's been a while since I've looked, but want to say you'll see it going into the brake booster, branching off and going into the exhaust manifold, running back along the top of the fire wall and into a sealed black box about 2" wide and 6" long (mounted near the battery some where). It also branches off and heads into the firewall on the passenger side.

The rubber boots that are used to connect the lines can crack or become loose. I'd check those 1st. Then start visually inspecting the lines for cracks, tears, or breaks.

agree it's the vaccuum. if it's coming out of your defrost vents that's it. i can post a pic on my tj of where it is. by the way this is an extremely common problem.

On my rubi I thought I had an ac problem. got to snooping around looking under the dash. I found this little blue piece of plastic. I decided to pull the knobs off (I don't remember why) I found the place where that piece plastic went. It was a total accident I even found it because all the knobs felt like they working properly. Check to see if you have any cracked or broken before you deside to tear into anything.
