Default Who needs a spare tire?

    I do!

A thread came up a while ago on another forum about the need for a full size spare tire.....

Oh yeah, I needed one today, and bad. I had cleaned out my TJ, prepping it for storage on the POV lot on Ft Lewis for deployment, so I didn't have anything in the TJ. No tools, no spare, no jack. #-o I was in the parking lot of Lowes this afternoon in Puyallup (about 15-20 min away), ran over something, heard a hissing noise.

Practically brand new KM2 about 10 minutes later

Here is what I ran over:

No idea what it was. Here it is after I pulled it out

The lugnut is there only for size reference. I called a buddy of mine, but I5 was a stand still for whatever reason. So I had to get a ride back to my house (Ft Lewis), grab tools, tire, and jack, then head back out to Puyallup.

Moral of the story, having a spare, and tire changing equipment with you, on the trail or not, is a good idea.

(PS, photobucket it pissing me off, sorry for the size of the photos. And, they came from a cell phone).

Damn that sucks. I've had shit from Lowes and Home Depot end up in my work van. Both times it was a pipe hanger with the nailer spikes.
How big was the hole, can it be plugged?

I did get them at 4 wheel parts. As for the hole, I am gonna try to get it fixed. If not, I'll take it and get it replaced. Hole is like 1/8-1/4 inch. I just can't figure out how it could have gone through the tread of a NEW KM2.

That thingy is a quick release for bicycle tires/seats. Kinda screwed up that it went into your tire, you had to have the worst luck to get that to come up and get angled right.

Since it's in the tread, it can be plugged. Trailsnail's right about the bike tire quick release thingy.

At street pressure, tires can be punctured pretty easily, especially on hard surface like concrete or asphalt.

Still sucks, especially with a brand new tire!

Weird, it looks like the handle end went in? Better check the undercarriage for the rest of the bike and rider!
