    Default Hand Throttle

Anyone done one? I want one on the CJ so that when I bounce off of a rock I'm not jumping all over the place.

I've got mine sitting here waiting to be installed. Been kinda busy lately. I'll probably try and do it this week. I got tired of all the footwork. Mine is geared so low now I may not need it, but it will go in anyway. Not hard to do at all so I say go for it. Easy to take out and sell if you don't like it and they take some getting used to.

I just finished mine up today actually. Easy install and I think it will be well worth the money and time. Even if you don't use it too much for actual driving, you can also use it to keep the revs up for winching if you are outside the vehicle.

I'm looking for more write up than review. I don't want to spend money on one when I've heard making your own is easy enough. Maybe I'll just buy some junk and give it the old college try.

Kits for sale out there... but basically you can make one with parts from a bicycle store. I know some years ago there were write-ups on doing it... but for the life of me I can't remember where I saw it (alzheimer's moment anyone?)!

Chris, I'll snap some pics of mine for ya. I used a brake handle from a BMX style bike, and mounted it on the stick shift.

First time around, I used a 10 speed bike shifter. I could use it to hold the revs up (it had a tension screw) but the throw was so short, it was hard to control the RPM's while on the rocks.

I'll go grab some pics, and do a write up for the board. HB

I bought the Rubicon Express Hand throttle for $17.00, not counting ship/handling. Took me one hour to install. Go to a bike shop and buy a shimano shifter and 4ft of brake cable.
