Not sure what your getting at. Tom Woods makes any style shaft, from stock to custom.
Some shafts need a SYE and some don't.
If you're wondering if you can use a shaft with a double cardan joint (also referred to as a 'CV' joint) without a SYE, yes, as long as the shaft doesn't have a slip joint on it.
What type of rig?
How much lift?
Check the yokes, see if they have any shiny spots on them. Under load, the pinion will move slightly, and can cuase the yokes to rub on a steep driveline angle.
A temporary fix for this would be to clearance the yoke with a grinder.
Some shims between the spring pad and leaf springs may help also (if you have leafs)
